Cloud Light Office is an independent guide to flexible online and remote work in Europe. We publish practical, plain-English explanations of the jobs people can genuinely do from home - with a phone, a laptop and an internet connection - and we are honest about what each role really asks of you.
Why we started
Remote work is often presented as either a dream or a scam. In reality, most legitimate online jobs sit somewhere in the middle: they are real, they pay, and they are open to people without a university degree. But they also ask for reliability, basic skills and a little patience. We started Cloud Light Office to describe that middle ground clearly, without hype and without hiding the requirements.
Who we are
We are a small, remote-first editorial team working across the European Union and the European Economic Area. We are writers, translators and former freelancers who have done this kind of work for clients in several countries. We are not a recruitment agency, we do not sell courses, and we never charge job seekers.
What we cover
Our core guide looks at ten of the most common online jobs in Europe, from beginner-friendly work such as online customer support and data entry to more specialist roles such as video editing, translation and AI data annotation. For every role we explain:
- What the work actually involves, day to day.
- The equipment you need - phone, laptop or both.
- Who the role tends to suit.
- The language and skill level normally required.
- How easy or hard it is to start with no experience.
- The typical working pattern: fixed shifts, flexible hours or per project.
We also cover the wider context that many job listings leave out: the differences in labour rules, tax and work permits between European countries, and the warning signs of online job scams.
How we research our guides
Each guide is built from three kinds of evidence:
- Public job listings and platform documentation from employers and marketplaces that hire remotely in Europe.
- Direct experience - several of our writers and contributors have done these jobs themselves.
- Country-level rules published by national authorities and by the European Commission.
We re-check our guides regularly and mark them with an update date. Where a figure or a rule changes from country to country, we say so instead of generalising.
Who this guide is for
Cloud Light Office is written for people who want to work online from home in Europe: students fitting work around their studies, parents and carers, freelancers, career changers and people who live far from a large city. It is equally useful for anyone who simply wants to understand what remote work involves before committing to it.
Our editorial principles
- Accuracy first. We describe what a job requires, even when that makes it sound less appealing.
- No false promises. We never claim that anyone can earn a high income instantly, and we never guarantee that work is available.
- Real requirements. We name the language, tools and skills each role actually needs.
- Safety. We explain how to spot fraudulent "job offers" that ask for money up front.
- Plain language. We avoid jargon and write for readers who may be new to remote work.
How we stay independent
Cloud Light Office is free to read. We do not charge job seekers, and we do not sell employers preferential coverage of their vacancies. If a section of the site is ever sponsored, it will be clearly labelled as sponsored and will have no influence on the advice in our guides.
Corrections and feedback
Rules, pay rates and platforms change quickly, so our guides can go out of date. If you spot something that is inaccurate or no longer true, please tell us. Corrections are reviewed by an editor and published as soon as they are verified, with a note in the page history.
